Surcos - $14,500

This is the second year that we are helping this organization that provides a home as well as counseling and recreational activities for girls that have been abandoned or abused by their families. SURCOS is located in one of the poorest areas of Santiago, providing their services where they are needed. Unfortunately, since this is a very high crime area, the house has been robbed, vandalized and the security of the girls and the staff is threatened. Our donation this year will provide funds for the construction of a protection wall around the site, which will enable the girls to live within a safe environment and will be the medium for art competitions among all the children attended by SURCOS.

Paternitas - $4,500
The objective of this organization is to provide housing for 40 children of women in prison between the ages of 3 and 16. Our contribution for PATERNITAS this year will pay for the construction of a bathroom and the expansion of kitchen facilities. These physical improvements will enable them to attend the children better, get them involved in learning nutrition and cooking, and increase the housing capacity to 55 children.

Corporación Educacional Comunitaria - $4,364
The Foundation will continue to support the development of artistic activities for the youth of La Pintana, an area characterized by extreme poverty, deteriorated social relations and violence. Last year's donation enabled these youngsters to use their free time to try out their dramatic, dance, and musical skills as well as to learn how to use audiovisual equipment. This year's funding will support the building of a large room for live shows, materials and training, and the production of 10 artistic events to present to the community.

Corporación Niño Levantate - $6,969
The objective of this organization is to help school-age children, poor and at risk of dropping out of school or engaging in antisocial behavior. Our donation will contribute to pay for the development and coordination of a Network of Institutions that would provide counseling, health, and educational and labor training services. The organization of such a network would enable Niño Levántate to improve the quality of their services and the monitoring needed to help these children return to school and ensure their integration to society.
