Fundación Rescate - US$ 5.000
Since 1993 this foundation has provided social and health services to young men who live with HIV-AIDS in Santiago, including shelter, medical and psychological assistance, and proper meals. The project "Reestablishing and reinserting youth from extreme poverty who live with HIV" will finance all food costs and medicines for the treatment of 30 youths ages 18 to 25, who live in the group house Casa Santa María de la Esperanza. This basic program helps these young people finish school, train for a trade and enter the labor market.
Corporación CreArte - US$ 5.000
This organization was established in 1999 with the goal of developing the creativity, artistic expression and self-esteem of socially-at-risk children . The project "Improving the Self Esteem and Creativity of Children at Social Risk: Strengthening the Tools and Community Involvement" is a continuation of the 2005 project and has two objectives: The first is to increase the impact and the artistic and technical quality of the art workshops to allow a better display of the artistic talents of these children by investing in equipment and material, which their families cannot afford. The second objective is to increase the participation of parents, teachers and school Principals in the children's activities. The project will focus on the areas of dance and drama for a group of 100 children, ages 6 to 14, in the Municipalities of Peñalolén and Recoleta .
Corporación de Educación y Desarrollo Popular El Trampolín - US$ 5.000
Corporation El Trampolín started its activities in 1993 in the Municipality of Maipú to promote education and integral development of children, youths, and families who live in this community of social risk and exclusion. El Trampolín will carry out the project called "Community Technology Center in El Trampolín Maipú : the leaders start on their path". The project will engage a group of 115 children ages 6 to 16 with group activities, light meals, craft materials, promotion of activities and workshops to facilitate access and use of new technology. At the same time, El Trampolín will continue strengthening its work in institutional social networks to help the insertion of children and young people in their community through the leadership program, where children of different ages will participate.
El Umbral-Centro de Apoyo Juvenil - US$ 5.000
This organization continued the work that Hogar de Cristo had carried out until 1999 which is aimed at helping excluded and socially-at-risk youth in the Municipality of Maipú . El Umbral was established in 2000 and began its activities in a community center specially built for activities and educational workshops aimed at preventing the school dropout rate. The project "Protagonists of a Better World" will involve 80 pre-adolescents aged 10 to 13, and adolescents aged 14 to 18, in activities aimed at helping them discover and consolidate their skills through educative and self-help workshops. The goal is to help them develop strengths by acquiring the tools necessary to avoid falling into the destructive habits they are exposed to daily. These activities will be lead by professionals and carried out in the halls, computer room, and sport courts of the community center.
