Corporación CreArte (US$ 5,000)
Their project follows the approach used in the two previously CAF funded projects, i.e., strengthening the self-image of at-risk public-school children through art. The objective of the current project is to motivate children to participate in music, communications and literature workshops. Schools selected for this project are located in the districts of Peñalolén, Huechuraba, La Pintana and Recoleta. The target beneficiary population consists of approximately 100 children between the ages of 6 and 14 years old. The Foundation grant will finance the purchase of musical instruments, sound equipment, tape recorders, children’s story and poetry books, and other artistic materials to promote and provide the opportunity for developing musical and artistic skills.

Fundación Rescate ($5,000)
This organization has provided free services to poor adolescents (both boys and girls) with HIV for 14 years. Thirty five professionals, all volunteers, serve the medical, social, and spiritual needs of these children. Their mission is to help them finish school and organize on-the-job training with entrepreneurs willing to hire them. Our Foundation has provided funding to this organization in four instances since 1999. Our 2007 donation, as in previous years, will finance four daily meals for 18 in-patients in “ Casa Santa Maria de la Esperanza” and lunch for 12 out-patients. See testimony below of one of these beneficiaries.

Centro de Apoyo Escolar Cecilia Arrieta ($5,000)
This multidisciplinary and all-volunteer organization has worked with low-income families in the area of Las Canchas in Peñalolén since 1994. They have helped build 300 houses, and provided school children with food, clothing, and homework assistance. Together with lay missionaries that live in the area, this organization established a school support center in an old bus providing daycare and after-school care for 70 low-income children (ages 1–16). The old bus is being replaced by modular structures where they are equipping two class-rooms, dining-room, and a kitchen to provide the children with balanced and nutritious meals. Our financing will cover the cost for the food for the whole year and the provision of nutrition education for the children.

Corporación Municipal de Educación, Salud y Atención de Menores de Puente Alto ($ 5,000)
This organization has worked with street-children in the area of Puente Alto since 1999. Four years ago, they created community school centers that include group activities with the children and their families to help them return to school and provide them with alternatives to keep them out of harm’s way. The Foundation will finance educational materials and food for the project “Casa de Encuentro El Viaje”, aimed at helping the psycho-social development of 77 children between the ages of 12 and 18.
