How Activities Support Projects

Your support of our events and contributions to membership in the Chilean-American Foundation is vital to continue our support of children in Chile. The Chilean-American Foundation is planning a number of exciting events for 2012. Each year we hold a major bingo fund raiser -- serving Chilean food specialties - and providing great prizes furnished by our supporters. Chilean-American Foundation's Peña was a Great Success

Zamarano

Our "summer evening of fun" was a great success: a full house, substantial funds collected for our projects, and most importantly all attendees went home happy.

The cast was spectacular. Mattias Kraemer's musical potpourri of tropical airs and Caribbean rhythms created a very pleasant, cheerful and warm atmosphere. There followed the poems of Mary DeShazo, an inspiring cueca demonstration by Brisas de Chile (www.brisasdechile.com), the songs of guitarist Enrique Argeñal Honduras, David Schneier and Gustavo Levy, chanting the classic Violeta Parra song "Gracias a la Vida" and the duo of eminent dancers (Martina Bozadzhieva and Vlad Gorshkov) presenting a modern rumba. The grand finale was the presentation of Patricio Zamorano, Chilean singer-songwriter and his international ensemble who delighted us with their music and their tribute to the great Facundo Cabral, the interpretation "No soy de aquí ni soy de allá", touching the hearts the listeners.

While enjoying the excellent program, the audience eagerly tasted the delicious “empanadas” donated by Mrs. Julia Canales, “torta de mil hojas”, and delicious “mote con huesillos” made by Norma Parraguez.

Thanks to Pilgrim Lutheran Church for providing the venue, to the artists for their pro bono participation, to the Embassy of Chile for promoting the event, and to Vicky Levy and Lawrence Lamonica for organizing the event. Thanks to the generosity of volunteers and donors, the Chilean American Foundation will be able to help even more children in Chile.

Thank you all for supporting our effort! We look forward to your continued participation in our future events.
